Who we are
CEMTA is an international Mennonite training center with a history of 50 years: since 1956 in Uruguay (as SEMT) and then since 1977 in Paraguay (as CEMTA). CEMTA offers university level studies in the areas of Theology and Music (preparing to work in churches, missions, service agencies, and schools). CEMTA stands in the tradition of the historical peace churches.
Since 1994 the Theology Department of CEMTA is accredited as a study center of the Facultad de Teología - Universidad Evangélica de Asunción (U.E.P.) (Department of Theology - Evangelical University of Paraguay). Since 1995 the Music Department of CEMTA is accredited as Facultad de Música (Department of Music) of the U.E.P. Both departments (Theology and Music) offer study programs that lead to a University degree approved by the Government of Paraguay.
CEMTA is a training center of the South American Conference of Mennonite Churches.
CEMTA is a study center of the UNIVERSIDAD EVANGÉLICA DE PARAGUAY (U.E.P.).

Infrastructure at CEMTA

It is the mission of CEMTA to “prepare people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up.” (Ephesians 4:12)

Objectives and programs of study
CEMTA is a community of studies and formation with the purpose of preparing man and woman for the different ministries and services in the church and in society. This is carried out on the basis of the Bible and in the spirit of the original Anabaptist – Mennonite church concept. This preparation happens in three areas: academic studies, practical ministries and spiritual formation.
CEMTA offers the following programs of study:
- “Licenciatura en Teología”
This is a program of studies designed to prepare persons for the ministries of preaching, missions, teaching, counseling, and others, with the objective to serve in churches and in society. This program offers a well-balanced curriculum in the areas of Bible, History, Theology and Practical Ministries.
Length of study: 4-5 years
- “Diploma en Educación Cristiana” (Diploma in Christian Education)
This is a study that prepares people who want to serve in a ministry in the church, but probably not on a full time basis.
Length of study: 2 years
This is a program of studies designed for persons who want to work in a church or school setting as choir director or music teacher. The Music program includes several courses in the area of Theology.
Length of study: 4-5 years
